Participants must complete 48-hours of the three-week class and pass a written exam after each required course with a grade of 70 or better.

Class 1 - Code Enforcement Policies and Procedures

The objective of this course is to develop your knowledge of code enforcement and its practices in general, to illustrate how to apply various skills to complete your essential job requirements, and to clarify your role as a code enforcement officer/neighborhood preservation officer.  

 

Class 2 - Code Enforcement Communications

The goal of this lesson is to introduce the basic communications skills to the students which will enable them to better communicate while performing their daily duties and responsibilities.


Class 3 Code Enforcement Zoning Level I

The goal of this lesson is to introduce and explain the basic philosophy, terminology, elements, and procedures of zoning.

Class 4 - Code Enforcement Officer Safety

The goal of this lesson is to introduce the basic officer safety awareness and skills to the students which will enable them to minimize and or eliminate risk of injury while performing their daily duties and responsibilities.

Class 5 - Code Enforcement Legal Aspects

The goal of this lesson is to provide a basic understanding of constitutional law, legal terms and the judicial system as they relate to code enforcement. 


Class 4
- Code Enforcement Ethics and Report Writing

The goal of this lesson is to instruct the students on standards of code enforcement ethics and the relationship between ethical behavior and effective enforcement service and
instruct the students on standards of report writing traditionally used in the code enforcement field.
